Remote sensing and GIS are positioned as technologies and systems that support agricultural informatics. Agriculture is established on the basis of various resources such as water, soil, and sunlight, which differ from region to region, the natural environment, and the local community, and cannot be separated from the places of "region" and "space." The use of remote sensing is very effective in acquiring information related to these agriculture and regions. In addition, the spatial level of this information varies from individual agricultural products in the field that can be obtained by drone remote sensing to landscape-level natural environment and ecosystem information that can be obtained by satellite remote sensing. The use of GIS is indispensable for managing and integrating the data of the above, and for complex analysis.
In considering the future development and maintenance of agriculture, remote sensing and GIS have become more important tools in agricultural informatics with the spread of new platforms such as drones, improvement of on-board sensors, and development of web GIS. I will continue.
This subcommittee covers the following topics. Since there are many things that are related to other subcommittees, we will proceed with the activities of the subcommittees in cooperation.
Remote sensing of crop / agricultural land information
Use of GIS in agriculture and rural areas
Agricultural weather / environmental information mesh data
Geospatial information and data science
Forest remote sensing / GIS
Natural environment, ecosystem, biodiversity information
Multi-functionality of agriculture
Ecosystem services and landscape (landscape)
Use of geospatial information in global and regional environmental issues
